Boost For ABUAD Nursing Programme As NMCN Raises Admission Quota

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has increased the admission quota for the Faculty of Nursing, Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, from 190 to 300 per session.

The Director, ABUAD Corporate Affairs, Tunde Olofintila, said in a statement on Sunday that the news was conveyed in a letter by Council’s Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Faruk Abubakar, titled, “Increase in students’ enrolment into the Faculty of Nursing, ABUAD.” dated July 18, 2024.

Olofintila quoted the NMCN boss as saying, “ABUAD is one of the standout institutions with several highly qualified (Nursing) lecturers who provide high-quality nursing education to the students. The university has well-equipped facilities and resources, including clinical sites for effective practical training experience for students.

“Leveraging on these strengths, I am pleased to inform you officially of the increase in students’ enrolment to 300 (from 190) students into the nursing programme of the Faculty of Nursing, ABUAD. The council is confident that the dedicated faculty at ABUAD will effectively accommodate this increase while maintaining the high regulatory standards expected.”

Olofintila added that Abubakar expressed confidence that the increase in the faculty’s admission quota would expand access to nursing education for aspiring individuals in the society.

ABUAD Chancellor, Afe Babalola, expressing his delight said, “The university is living to his vision of establishing a university that will institutionalise quality and functional education, teach Nigerians how a university should be run and raise a new generation of leaders that will change the society for the better.”

During the 9th induction ceremony of 95 graduating students of the Faculty of Nursing Sciences in Ado-Ekiti, Babalola noted that “since our maiden convocation in October 2013, we have turned out 1,420 graduates. They are not only doing well, but they are also agents and leaders of reformation.”
