1,400 corps members of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II deployed to Yobe State by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have taken of allegiance to be faithful to their fatherland.
The oath was administered by the state Chief Judge of the state represented by Justice Hadiza Lawal Musa.
In his welcome address, the State Coordinator NYSC Yobe, Abdulsalam Alhassan, informed that the orientation course is the pivot upon which other programmes of the service year rest and called on the Corps Members to be committed to the scheme,the programmes and activities that will give them a better understanding of the objectives of the NYSC Scheme as well as the Environment, Language, and Culture of their host communities.
“Consequently, a comprehensive programme has been packaged which includes: Military Drills, Man ‘O’ War, Leadership Training, Language Studies, Entrepreneurship Lectures, Sports, and so on, which you are expected to undergo during the orientation course for the purposes of training, learning and mentorship.”
“In this regard, I urge you to participate in all the camp activities which are mandatory as you will derive immense benefits from the activities. Equally, you must obey all camp rules and respect camp officials as acts of insubordination will not be condoned. Note that your assessment for the service year commences right here from this Orientation camp”.
The Coordinator expressed appreciation to His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni for his continuous support of the NYSC Scheme in Yobe State at all times.
“In line with the NYSC management’s vision of expanding the orientation camp facilities to accommodate 5000 Corps members in the next five years, I wish to request assistance in the construction of additional hostels for Corps members and Camp Officials and an expansion of the Multi-purpose hall as the seating capacity is grossly inadequate”.
