The Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, has applauded the ingenuity of Corps Members deployed to the State for the one year mandatory National Service, saying that records have shown that they have adequately used their skills and creativity as a force in the development of the Nation and the State in particular.
Speaking at the Swearing – In Ceremony /Official commencement of the 2024 Batch B Stream2 Orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Eziama Obaire Nkwerre LGA, the Governor implored the new entrants to emulate their predecessors in contributing their quota to the development of the State.
His Excellency, represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youths Development and Talent Haunt Dr (Mrs) Dorothy Mmirikwe who commended the 1272 registered Corps Members comprising of 565 Males and 707 Females for their level of discipline, tasked them to take up the responsibility of rekindling hope for a better and more positive Nigeria through selfless service to humanity.
He equally encouraged the Corps Members to avail themselves of the opportunities presented by the orientation course, saying that the experiences accumulated during the Course, especially the skill acquisition programme, will prepare them for self- employment and financial independence.
The Governor further assured the Scheme of his Administration’s unwavering support and the provision of adequate security for the Corps Members deployed to the State.
Earlier in her introductory address, the NYSC Imo State Coordinator, Mrs Rachel Idaewor , urged the Corps Members to interact and appreciate each other’s culture and religion to promote National Unity and Integration.
She also encouraged them to adhere strictly to the Bye-Laws of the orientation course, while making extra efforts to imbibe the motto of the Scheme which is Service and Humility.
The Coordinator used the opportunity to express her appreciation to the State Government for the hospitality and support given to the Scheme in the State.
The Oath of Allegiance was administered on the Corps Members by Barrister Favour Kainga on behalf of the Chief Judge of the State. The Corps representatives later carried out the sample signing of the ‘Oath of Allegiance’ on behalf of all the Corps Members.
The well attended event, had the display of Man O’ War’, Marshal Arts and “Thug of War’ .
