Born on 28th July, 1955 in Emu-Uno in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, Professor Roseline Abonego Adejare trained as a teacher and has fifty-two years teaching experience. She attended Local Authority Primary School, Emu Uno, Pilgrim Baptist Teacher Training College Issele-Uku, and the universities of Ife and Lagos.

She obtained the PhD and MA English Language degrees in 2010 and 1987 respectively and the B.A (Education) English degree in 1982.

She also holds the Teachers’ Certificate Grade Two, GCE O’L, and First School Leaving Certificate.

Professor Adejare began her university teaching career at the University of Maiduguri in 1990 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of English from where she transferred her services to the Lagos State University in December 1991, and completed a sabbatical stint at the Niger Delta University in 2014.

In 2023, she was appointed a professor of English Grammar and Applied English Linguistics in the Department of Language, Arts and Social Science Education, Faculty of Education, Lagos State University. She taught and examined courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and successfully supervised two PhD candidates.

With research interests lying primarily in English grammar and secondarily in applied English linguistics and a special focus on the English verb, Professor Adejare has published extensively in local and international journals of repute.

Apart from her numerous articles on the theory and description of English grammar, she has to her credit two books titled Tertiary English Grammar (co-authored with Professor Oluwole Adejare which was regarded by students as the Bible) and The English Verbal Group: Its Form, Meaning and Function (a revised version of her PhD thesis published by LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing).

Professor Adejare was a member of the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee and University Conduct Advisory Committee. She served as Assistant Director, LASU at FESTAC Campus and was Pioneer Coordinator, Primary Education, Sandwich Degree Programme, during which she designed the B. Ed Primary Education degree programme in use today.

Married with children and grandchildren, Professor Roseline Abonego Adejare enjoys farming, cooking, and shopping in local food markets.
