A Lecturer with the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Ngozi Uzodike, has delivered septuplets (seven babies).
The seven children, made up of two boys and five girls, reports in the media said, were delivered on Sunday.
Uzodike, who works in the Department of Business Administration of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, was delivered of the babies at Obijackson Women and Children Hospital, Okija, Anambra State on Sunday.
However, reports said one of the girls died.
What is uppermost on the mind of the Uzodike family, for now, is how to offset the bill of N19 million given to them by the hospital.
A newspaper report has it that the Lecturer has not been paid salaries since she started working in the institution in December 2020.
Her husband, Celestine Uzodike, told the daily: “The babies came out prematurely at 26 weeks and the hospital said they will need to be placed in the intensive care unit and each of them will cost N3 million.
“One of them has died, remaining six babies, that is why they billed us like that.”
Celestine then appealed to both the Anambra State Government and the Federal Government to come to their aid.
