The Lagos State House of Assembly has commended Lagos State University (LASU) on positive development.
Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Education, Hon. Ajani Owolabi, on Wednesday, led members of the Committee on an oversight visit to the University Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, to assess facilities on the Campus.
He was received by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello at her office.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the Committee for its constant support to the University, especially with regard to the timely approval of her budgets.
She assured the Chairman that the University’s books and facilities are open for the Committee’s assessment and went further to seek its support for the University in her pursuit of the resource verification and subsequent accreditation of new and existing programmes.
She reiterated her vision to make LASU the best University in West Africa and listed her administration’s six strategic goals through which, she said, the administration measures her performance.
The Chairman, in his response, said “…The Committee’s aim is to assist institutions under its purview to achieve their visions and that is the reason for visiting the campus.”
“Having worked closely with you for a while, I can attest to your passion for this university.”
The team thereafter inspected facilities in the University including offices in the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, the Students’ hostels under construction and the Information, Communication Technology (ICT) Complex.
Overall, the Chairman gave a thumbs up to the University for the progress it has made in the last two years and assured that the House Committee on Education would continue to support the institution.
It is expected that the visit will yield positive results for the University in the months ahead.
