The Jagal Foundation team led by Mr. Abayomi Oyewole, Director, Community Relations and Development recently presented scholarships and awards to deserving students of the Lagos State University (LASU).
The presentation was held in the Conference room of the Vice Chancellor, 6th floor, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Tunji-Bello, represented by the Acting Dean, Students’ Affairs Division, Dr. Tajudeen Olumoko, welcomed the team and appreciated the gesture, noting that it will go a long way to improve the welfare of the beneficiaries.
Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Maher Jarmakani, the Chief Executive Officer of the Jagal Group of Companies, represented by Mr. Kola Oyekunle, a Director at the Foundation, advised the awardees to continue with their scholarly performance and pray for more achievements for them.
Two beneficiaries of the scholarship who had completed their course of studies, Mojeed Sodiq Abiodun of the Department of Mathematics Education, Faculty of Education and Busari Hayatullah Taiwo of the School of Transport, were presented the awards as the best graduating students in their respective departments with the CGPA of 4.61 and 4.33 respectively. Five (5).
Besides, the beneficiaries of the scholarship awards were also presented with cheques for the 2020/2021 academic session.
The Acting Dean, Students Affairs Division, Prof. Olumoko appreciated the team for the initiative and kind gesture towards the students of the University and congratulated the awardees.
He described the beneficiaries as worthy ambassadors of the University.
Olumoko appealed to the Foundation to sustain the laudable initiative to cater to other emerging brilliant but indigent students.
Speaking on behalf of all the awardees, Miss. Aderounmu Ayomikun Wuraola of the Department of Dentistry appreciated the University management for providing the enabling environment for them to achieve their academic feat and Jagal Foundation for its benevolence.
The Jagal Foundation team led by Ms. Funmi Shokunbi, had in attendance Mrs. Doris Alex Eyitene, Mr. Ibrahim Adamu, Ms. Elizabeth Ilodiuba, Ms. Vivian Mends, and Ms. Rona Oduneye.
Other staff of the University present at the Award presentation are Mr. Okugbesan K.O., Principal Assistant Registrar (Admissions Unit), Mrs. Ogunbiyi Fatimo (Personal Assistant to the Vice Chancellor), Mr. Popoola Ibrahim I. (Senior Assistant Registrar), Miss Shafau Rukayat I.( Administrative Officer), and Mr. Aroyewun Ibraheem A.(Assistant Chief Executive Officer), all of the Students’ Affairs Division.
