The Board of Trustees and Management of Tansian University Umunya in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State has outlined very cogent reasons Sen. Dr. Victor Umeh was appointed the new Chancellor of the university.
The Vice Chancellor of the university Prof. Eugene Okoye Nwadialor, Reverend Innocent Uke and others who spoke very strongly on the choice of Chief Victor Umeh as the new Chancellor of Tansian University, unanimously maintained that Umeh has impeccable character, antecedents and pedigree which provided very credible credentials for his appointment.
The Vice-Chancellor who spoke very highly of Sen. Umeh during the presentation of the Appointment Letter to him at Aguluzigbo, said Umeh has been part of the university and that he was one of the first Honorary Degree Awardees of Tansian University.
The VC said Tansian University is a faith-based university founded by the late Professor Johnbosco Akam and that since the demise of Johnbosco Akam, His Eminence Most Reverend Cardinal Peter Okpalaeke has been in the forefront of protecting the university and making sure that it continued to bear fruits.
Prof. Nwadialor further disclosed that Cardinal Okpalaeke has been the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Tansian University, Visitor and Chancellor of the university; making sure that the university survived.
He however stated that the Board recently thought it wise that under the separation of functions, the post of Chancellor of Tansian University should be given to a worthy son of the soil.
He said it is in that regard that the Board did a thorough search and found no other person worthy than Chief Victor Umeh (Ohamadike) in consideration of his doggedness and commitment to issues he believes in.
The VC stated that the Board considered that Chief Victor Umeh be appointed the Chancellor of the university. He said that the message from the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Tansian University Cardinal Peter Okpalaeke is that Victor Umeh should bring his experience, doggedness and commitment to bear on his new assignment to put Tansian University on the global map.
One of the Directors of the university Revd. Innocent Uke said with efforts being made in the school, Tansian University will be one of the best universities in the world.
Uke also stated that the appointment of Chief Victor Umeh as Chancellor of Tansian University is a wise decision, describing Umeh as a goal-getter coupled with the confidence reposed in his ability to take the university to the next expected level.
The Reverend gentleman noted that the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Tansian University, Cardinal Peter Okpalaeke has seen the quality needed to move the university forward.
He said Tansian University has many things that gave it leverage over other private and public universities in the country; that most paramount is the very competent personnel in the university.
Also, Associate Professor Nnamdi Dike Umeoduagu who heads the Department of Microbiology, and was amongst the delegation to Aguluzigbo, said Tansian University is a citadel of repute where strike actions do not exist and students graduate in record time.
Umeoduagu also said the appointment of Chief Victor Umeh as Chancellor is a welcome development because Victor Umeh according to him is a proven technocrat, full of wisdom and will take Tansian University to an enviable and expected heights.
