... Warns Against Shabby Dress, Use Of Fez Cap, Malpractice
As the 2022/2023 Rain Semester examination of the Lagos State University(LASU) got underway, rising from a crucial meeting, staff of the university under the aegis of the Computer Based Test (CBT) Examination Stakeholders have resolved to work harmoniously to make the examination a seamless one and a huge success.
This was part of the stakeholder’s resolution at a crucial meeting held on Monday, 24 July 2023, at the Zenith ICT Centre, main campus, Ojo, Lagos, which was coordinated by the Director, Directorate of Information Communication Technology (DICT), Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin.
At the start of the meeting, Prof. Enikuomehin impressed all the participants, drawn from the Registry, Bursary, Audit, Security, the CBT, CIPR and DICT, on the need to strategise, be proactive and work harmoniously for the good of the University.
“I welcome you all, to this crucial meeting. The truth is, we have a large number of students to deal with. We need to work together, harmoniously. We must work round the clock to have a smooth and seamless computer-based test examination. This examination is peculiar and it’s taking place during the rainy season,” he stated.
Speaking further, he talked about the crowd, which must be adequately managed by the stakeholders, especially by identifying gate crashers, impostors and those with fake identities, saying that the seminar was to brainstorm and share ideas on how best to make the examination run smoothly.
He informed that the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello and the Management had already provided resources and logistics needed for the smooth running of the examination.
Charging the stakeholders to rise to the challenge by giving their best and being firm in taking decisions, Prof. Enikuomehin warned especially 100 level students, who would be writing the CBT examination but with the mindset of cheating during the examination, to stay clear from the CBT Centre at the main campus, Ojo, Lagos.
He ended his briefing by advising those students that would dress shabbily to the venue, not to bother showing up, stating that wearing of fez cap to the venue is prohibited.
One of the critical stakeholders, the Dean, of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Tajudeen Olumoko, still on the matter, advised the stakeholders, that would handle the students to be firm, but, show compassion where necessary, using their discretion.
He believed with the discussion and the ideas shared, the exercise would be a success and emphasised the need for the students to dress well for the venue, comport themselves and comply with the rules and regulations guiding the conduct of the examination.
The Assistant Chief Security Officer, Mr Reuben Balogun, who represented the Chief Security Coordinator, gave the assurance that his men, the security officers, were ready for the assignment, saying strategies had been put in place to ensure the process run smoothly, without hitches.
The interactive meeting came to an end with comments and observations from some of the stakeholders. The CBT examination for majorly 100 level students will run for four(4) weeks, starting from Tuesday, 25 July 2023.
