… As Hundreds Of Educators Come Together Under BIC’s Canvas Of Change Programme
Stemming from its global commitment to improve learning conditions for 250 million students by 2025, BIC has recently launched its Canvas of Change programme in West Africa.
The programme was launched in October in commemoration of Teacher Appreciation Month.
Canvas of Change aims to empower students, teachers, and parents to create meaningful and impactful change to make a lasting difference in generations to come. The Canvas of Change targets schools in Nigeria and Ivory Coast and is a phased year-long initiative.
The programme kicked off in Nigeria weekend at a masterclass run in collaboration with renowned educators, Femi Taiwo, Opeifa Olasunkanmi, and Oluwaseun Kayode.
The sessions targeted hundreds of schools and educators in Lagos and focused on delivering teaching strategies, tactics, and methodologies to further support teachers to bring the best to their classrooms and inspire and empower their students.
Commenting on the programme, Adeyemi Ojo, Business Development Head at BIC Nigeria, said: “We are committed to education, and have been supporting the sector for years – globally and regionally. Also speaking on this impactful endeavor, Opeifa Olasukanmi, Teacher and Programme Coordinator for Olusunkanmi Opeifa Educational Foundation said: “Redefining education as a gateway, not a barrier, involves mastering clear and empathetic communication through assessment and feedback.

The Canvas of Change masterclass took place at the Pearl Event Classique in Lagos and hosted teachers from over 100 schools in the city.
Sessions were hosted by Olasunkanmi Opeifa, Oluwaseun Kayode, and Femi Taiwo to tackle assessment and feedback in learning; the application of thinking and analytical skills; and the adoption of creativity in teaching.
The masterclasses were widely aimed at developing resilient mindsets and effective techniques for capturing attention, bridging academic knowledge and real-world applications, reaching emotional and social intelligence, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, and communicating for impact.
BIC’s Canvas of Change masterclass is the first phase of a series of activities that will take place in West Africa throughout the upcoming academic year.
On the sidelines of the Canvas of Change programme launch, and stemming from the same commitment, BIC inaugurated the renovation of Wesley School in Lagos after it had refurbished some of its facilities. This came as an early commemoration of the annual Global Education Week which BIC regularly celebrates.
To date, through its Global Education Week programs, BIC has worked with over 150 schools in Nigeria; impacted thousands of teachers and students; and donated necessary writing and self-expression tools to students and educational facilities in need.
