The Founder of Rochas Foundation College in Africa, and former Governor of Imo State, Senator. Rochas Anayo Okorocha has commended the Joint Admissions and
Matriculation Board (JAMB) for delivering on its mandate over the years.

Senator Okorocha gave this
commendation when he led some principal officers of the college to JAMB National Headquarters, Bwari, Abuja within the week.

According to the Senator, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede is a system stabiliser, who has radically transformed the operations of the Board and the education sector in general.

“You are a system stabiliser. JAMB is what it is today because of you.

People often say that there is a fall in the quality of education but I would like to say that the quality of education has not fallen rather there is a fall in the standard of operation of education.

“I want to commend you for taking the quality of our education to a high level,” he said.

The former Governor, who was
accompanied by no fewer than 50 students of the college drawn from various nationalities across Africa, are described as “children from poor backgrounds before now, who have become Rochas’ children and are no longer children of the streets.”

He said the Foundation has 13
schools spread across 13 States of the Federation, comprising over 30,000 indigent students, who are being taught by over 670 teaching staff stating, “l don’t know them or
their family. All l know is that stories of poverty brought us together.”

He described Nigeria as a nation of great promise that every nation in Africa looks up to adding that with time, the country would realise its
potential.

According to him, part of his mission to JAMB is to partner with the Board as well as synergise on ways of securing admissions for his students, appeal for discounts in tuition if possible, and establishment of CBT centres across its colleges promising that the Foundation is willing to make available world-class centres.

In his remarks, the Registrar
commended the passion of Senator Okorocha for education as well as alleviating the suffering of the downtrodden and providing succour to indigent students.

He likened the activities of the
Foundation to planting a tree that would provide needed shade over time and urged the students to count themselves lucky for the rare privilege.

He said the Board would look at the merits of the request adding that those who are willing to study and are qualified would be given admission while the non-Nigerian passport holders among them would enjoy special concessions created for such category of students under the internationalization policy approved by the Federal Ministry of Education.
