…Becomes Taurarunwan Mattassan Arewa
The Arewa Youth Congress (AYC), on Monday in Lagos honours the Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello with the Arewa National Excellence Award.
According to the group, Professor Olatunji-Bello was honoured in “Recognition of her nationalistic leadership disposition, contributions to the progress of Nigeria and provision of selfless support for any Arewa person that crosses her path”.
In the recognition, the AYC also decorated her as the Taurarunwan Mattassan Arewa, which means “Light of the North.”
In a related development, the Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy in conjunction with Cruise Point Publishers, Abuja has honoured the VC with an Exemplary Leadership Award in recognition of “Her immense and uncommon contributions to overriding public good, efficient cum effective administration as well as her strategic contributions to physiology, theology and education.’
The award was presented to the VC at her office on Monday, 13th May 2024, by a 2-man team from the Body, Mr Daniel Irodinso and Ifeoma Oyibo in the presence of other members of the university management.
The VC, in her responses, expressed appreciation for the honours, which, according to her, “shows that people are watching.”
She said, “I wanted to know on what basis you were giving me this honour because I didn’t want any award that would would be used to seek favour or financial gratification. Your response was satisfactory and convincing, and that’s why I am receiving this honour.
“Thank you for appreciating our good works, “she said to the team from CRPA.
