The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), on Tuesday, rejoiced with three governors from the southwest zone of the country on their re-elections at the just concluded polls for second terms.

The statement read, “I, Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, the NANS Vice President (External Affairs), uses this medium to specially congratulate those I described as my heroes of democracy.

“They are His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State; His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on their well-deserved victories last Saturday’s election.

“It was an election well contested considering the active participation by the oppositions in your respective states as it was not business as usual.

“It was a race of Who The Cap Fits, Let Him Wear It.”

“Your success at the polls has shown that you are loved by your people and the Nigerian Students that are solidly behind you. They(students) have benefitted immensely from your first term and prayed that your continuity will hasten the development that you have kick-started for them.

According to Akinteye, investigations have affirmed the love of students and education as exemplified in their appropriation for the sector by the three governors.

“My candid advise is that you stick to that mandate given to you by the good people of your state by giving them the dividends of democracy.

“Also, bear in mind that the youth and students are also waiting for the development strides that concern them to continue. Kindly ensure that you protect the golden image you bear for posterity’s sake.

The statement added, “Congratulations once again to your excellencies. May this new tenure bring unprecedented developments to your states and the entire nation.
