The Federal Government has approved and announced the appointment of Mr. Tahir Mamman (SAN) as Nigeria’s new Minister of Education.
Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, made this known on Wednesday in Abuja.
Mr. Mamman, the former Director-General of the Nigeria Law School from 2005 to 2013 takes over from Alhaji Adamu Adamu and becomes the 47th Minister of Education in Nigeria since 1958.
Also, Hon. Yusuf Tanko Sununu will take charge as the Minister of State for Education.
The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman (SAN) is a Professor of Law, Educational administrator and the Director-General of the Nigeria Law School from 2005 to 2013.
He is the current Vice-chancellor of Baze University Abuja and a member of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
He is a recognized member of the Body of Benchers. In 2010 he became a board member of the International Association of Law Schools based in Washington DC. In September 2015, he was conferred as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
In recognition of his efforts, the Federal Government of Nigeria bestowed him with the National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger(OON).
