The Acting Director, South East Area Office, Mr Chris Olawole Jimba in his official visit to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp Eziama Obaire, Imo State, has described the 2023 Batch C Stream ll Corps Members deployed to the State as ‘Tested and Certified Leaders’ of our Nation.
Addressing the Corps Members, Mr. Jimba who was impressed by their good conduct, urged them to remain great Ambassadors of Imo State.
“Your deployment to the State has given you all a better understanding of the Objectives of the Scheme and an appreciation of the State in general. From your experiences, you can now disseminate the message that there is Peace in Imo State” – said the SEAO Director.
He advised them to make an effort to achieve the Mandate of the NYSC by imbibing the spirit of Patriotism, Commitment, Loyalty and rendering Selfless Service to Humanity. He said that such sterling traits foster National Unity and Development.
The Special Guest who was a former State Coordinator of Imo State, said his visit was a ‘homecoming’ and was highly impressed with the level of innovations achieved under the present Administration.
Jimba used the opportunity to encourage the Corps Members to embrace the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme which he described as a laudable programme, designed to empower the young graduates and reduce the alarming rate of unemployment among the Youths.
On security, the Ag. Director (SEAO ), assured the Corps Members of their safety in the State, having himself, received the assurances of the security Operatives in the camp.
He equally advised the Corps Members to avoid vices that would project the Scheme in a bad light, shun unauthorized journeys, inappropriate use of Social Media, drug abuse and improper dress code.
Earlier in her welcome address, the NYSC Imo State Coordinator, Mrs Rachel Idaewor welcomed the Special guest and gave a Brief on the camp activities so far, highlighting the Corps Members’ zeal and active participation in all camp activities.
” Undoubtedly this Batch of Corps Members are the best in the country”- said the SC.
The visit had the Corps Members mounting a Guard of Honour, displaying cultural dance and three hearty cheers to the distinguished guest, who later presented gifts to the Corps Members. He inspected the Camp facilities and addressed the Camp officials before departing.
