The Education Writers’ Association of Nigeria (EWAN) is set for its annual Education Summit this year.
The summit, which is the fourth edition and with the theme, “Research for National Development: Nigeria’s Internal Security in Focus,” will be held on December 19 at Radisson Blu,
Ikeja Lagos.
The Chairman of Lagos State
Research and Innovation Council, who is the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University of
Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, will be the keynote speaker
at the event.
The Minister of Interior, Dr.
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo will chair the summit while the Minister of
Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman,
is the chief host.
In a statement signed by the
Secretary of the Central EWAN
Summit Committee, Christiana Akande-Alabi, there will be a session moderated by Veteran Broadcaster, Mrs. Bimbo Oloyede, with
discussants to be led by UBEC Executive Secretary, and Ex-Director of ABU’s Centre for Research and
Historical Documentation (Arewa
House), Dr. Hamid Bobboyi.
Other activities involve panel discussions on the following
sub-themed: Financial Security
and Future of Banking in Nigeria: What Needs from Researchers, with Lead Paper Discussant, as Group MD/CEO, United Bank for Africa – UBA, Oliver Alawuba.
Other sessions include Food Security, Health Safety, and Environmental Sustainability: What Nexus? – Researchers’ Perspectives, to be chaired by the Commissioner
for the Environment and Water Resources, Lagos State, Hon. Tokunbo Wahab, with the Lead Discussant, Prof. Taibat Lawanson.
