The Lagos State University (LASU) Postgraduate School through the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) has held a demonstration and training on the online (Real-time) LASU Postgraduate transcript and document processing system.
The demonstration and training were held on Thursday, 9th May 2024, at the Senate Chamber, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, main campus, Ojo, Lagos.
At the training, the Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Adenike Boyo described the event as a milestone in the university’s digital transformational journey.
She added that the initiative remains part of her administration’s sustained digitalisation agenda to streamline operations within the postgraduate school for utmost output.
“As the Vice Chancellor of this esteemed institution, I understand the importance of efficiency and effectiveness in our day-to-day operations. With the introduction of this online system, we aim to provide a seamless experience for both students and staff when it comes to processing transcripts and other important documents,” she stated.
Furthermore, she informed that the system would allow postgraduate students and the university’s alumni enjoy a seamless and user friendly experience, as it would enable them make request and access their transcripts and documents anywhere around the world. The faculties and staff would also benefit from the automated workflows, which will reduce paperwork and enhance productivity.
The Vice Chancellor added that the new system would reform the way transcripts and documents were handled. She stated that the process is a game changer that would boost the image of the university.
She ended her remarks by commending the DICT for the initiative and for the hard work put into developing the system. She was confident the training would equip the participants with the necessary skills.
The Dean, Postgraduate School, Prof. Ibrahim Olateju was very optimistic that the system would fast track transcripts processing within 24 hours. He thanked the University Management for the support. He applauded the Director, ICT, Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin for the collaboration.
In his remarks, the Director, DICT, Prof. Enikuomehin stated that the new system, when fully operational, would be a game changer and boost the image of the university more. He added that the new system is user-friendly with a flexible interface.
“This new system will transform the image of the university. In real time, we can process transcripts within a short time frame – in 24 hours or at most, 48 hours, transcripts could be processed. The new system has security features, and the App is easy to manage,” he informed.
The Director proceeded to the demonstration and training. He explained how the new system would work.
At the end of the training, there were questions from the participants who were staff members from the postgraduate school.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Funsho Omobitan and the Registrar, Mr Emmanuel A. FANU were also at the training as well as the Deputy Registrar (VCO), Dr Lateef Shekoni, and Special Assistant to the VC, Dr Lateef Salami.
The officers from PG School at the training are Mrs Kafilat Lawal, Mr Adewunmi Olori, Mr Nasir Oseni, Mrs Tolulope Ogunmola and Mr Afees Alabi. Also, in attendance at the training, were members of staff from DICT.
