The Dr. Isa El-Buba Foundation, on Saturday, has expressed sadness at the tragic collapse of the two-storey and loss of lives at Saint Academy School building at Bussa Buchi, neighborhood in Jos on Friday.
The Executive Director of the foundation, Mrs Deborah Deborah El-buba Adubi who toured the site of the building collapse while briefing newsmen said the school building collapse had resulted in the loss of precious lives and injuries to numerous students and teachers.
“We commiserate with the families of the victims and extend our heartfelt condolences to bereaved families of all the victims, the people and Government of Plateau State and all those affected by this devastating incident” adding “Our thoughts and prayers are with them in this difficult time.”
” We urge authorities and stakeholders to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the collapse and take immediate action and proactive steps to avert future occurrence to guarantee the safety and well-being of our children”
She said “Educators must remain paramount. While we commend the swift response by the good people and Government of Plateau State in supporting rescue efforts and footing medical bills of victims accordingly.
“We call on Governments, communities, public spirited individuals to continue to support the families of the victims and the injured. Indeed this is the time to Stand with the Plateau.”
She pledged her support and resources to assist in any way possible.
” Let us work together to ensure that our schools are safe and conducive for learning, and that such a tragedy doesn’t occur again.”
She cautioned Educationist must take extreme caution and seriousness in looking after the precious lives of children entrusted in to their care.
” Isa El-Buba Foundation is calling on the Government of Plateau State to mandate and possibly support the relocation of settlements dangerously situated around the river bank of Bussa buchi close to the location of the collapsed school to avert an impending double tragedy of more devastating magnitude.”
“May the souls of the departed rest in peace ,may the injured recover quickly and may future catastrophe be averted,” she prayed.
