Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, says that it is graduating a total of 8, 350 students, 5,350 of which are National Diploma, ND, and the rest 3,000 are HND while also producing a total of 102 students with distinction and merits.
All of them will be graduated at this year’s convocation where on Wednesday, the listed high impact project already accomplished which according to the school management will impact not only on internal revenue generation, IGR, of the school, but also enhance scholarship and community development.
Speaking on this, Engr Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, Rector of the polytechnic, made this known on Wednesday at a news conference to mark 29th convocation ceremony of the institution of learning.
“This administration has cultivated the practice of commissioning IGR project at every convocation,” he said.
According to the rector, the school completed key projects that included 33KV power project; Renovated Old IOT Lecture Halls, Laboratories/ workshops and offices; 2.5 Km reinforced concrete drainage; Remodeled Library and Information Science Department and many others.
“The power project called the Zango Power Project came with the approval of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of the State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the relentless efforts of the Management, administration’s light-up Kwara Poly project.
“It will lights up not only the institution, but more than four Communities and six government agencies through the 33KV. This is the Harmony feeder linked to the Institution. The project which was undertaken by the Management will ensure regular power supply to the Polytechnic, Apata-Yakuba, Oyun, Oke-Oyi and Oke-Ose Communities in Moro and Ilorin East Local Government Areas,” he said.
Federal government facilities like University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH, JAMB office will also get power from the project.
The school system also completed a Centralized Online Research Assessment and Submission System, CORASS/ Digital Project Binding.
“In continuation of its fights against plagiarism among its students and encouraging the use of ICT, the Management introduced the Centralized Online Research Assessment and Submission System (CORASS) alongside the Digital Project Binding,” the rector said.
