Forty-nine years after its establishment, the Kwara State Polytechnic is moving its Engineering and Applied Sciences complex, Institute of Technology (IOT) to the school’s permanent site in Aree, a suburb of Ilorin, the state capital.

Rector of the polytechnic during a press briefing as part of activities lined up for the 28th convocation ceremony.
7, 781 students of institution will be awarded Ordinary National Diploma (OND) the Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates.
Besides, the Rector announced a high-level partnership with reputable institutions to train students to be more hands-on and job creators.
“We are moving the IoT to the main site this year as part of the development programme and ease of school administration,” the Rector explained.
Engr. Mohammed added that students of the Polytechnic will be more inclined to entrepreneurship after the signing of MoUs with the Prototype Engineering Development Institute, Ilesha, Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi and Mantrac CAT, an engineering concern in Ikeja.
The Rector, who recalled all was not rosy for the institution, gave glory to God for the remarkable progress recorded within the 2021/2022 period under review.
He lamented that within the period , no less than 41 percent of the school’s land Area has been encroached while it occupied mere 6%, adding that the rest 53 percent is now difficult to access because the encroachers have now envelope the school.
“Our response now is to halt such practice by building our new projects on the virgin lands and encroachment-prone areas.
“We have also set up a committee on the matter to see how to manage the situation,” he added.
The Rector also complained about funding and the need for a perimeterfenc as means of securing the higher institution.
On the positive sides, the Rector said the institution is in the final stages of opening of its Microfinancece Bank called the Kwara Poly Microfinance Bank.
” Management embarked on the establishment of a Microfinance Bank as necessary steps toward the take-off of the project have been taken with opening an account with Keystone Bank, the parent bank for our Bank, while an application for registration is in the final stage of approval at the Central Bank of Nigeria, he said.
The Polytechnic is graduating a total of 7,781 students with 62 obtaining Distinction at the HND level, while 56 passed in the same category at the OND level.
