The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has lauded the Minister of Interior, Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his proactive moves that has cleared the bottlenecks responsible for the delay in the issuance of international passport to Nigerians.
NANS in a statement titled: “NANS Expresses Profound Appreciation To The Minister Of Interior, Honorable Bunmi Tunji Ojo For Resolving Passport Issuance Bottlenecks”, and made available to Daily Independent by Comrade Akinteye Afeez, the Vice President, NANS External Affairs, lamented that it was disappointing that the allotment of the travelling document became strenuous in the past and gave kudos to the minister for demystifying the process.
The statement read in parts, “In a world where globalization has become the norm and international mobility a necessity, the importance of having a valid passport cannot be overstated. Notwithstanding, the importance and usefulness of an international passport goes beyond just international mobility, it is outrightly a necessity for the citizens of a country.
“Passport issuance is a critical government service that directly impacts the lives of the citizens, and Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo has shown his exceptional leadership prowess and proactiveness in addressing passport issuance bottlenecks in just a few weeks- truly you’re a man of the people who is versatile and conversant with the need of the common man.
“To this effect, it is with great pleasure the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) NHQ extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Minister of Interior for his exemplary service delivery and unquantifiable efforts in addressing the long-standing bottlenecks in passport issuance.
“The significance of a passport is limitless. It serves as a gateway to the world, allowing individuals to travel for various purposes, including education, business, tourism and family reunions.”
“However, it is so disheartening that over the years, passport issuance has been a thing that comes with so much delay, burden and difficulties but this has since become history and a thing of the past in less than 3 months of Hon. Bummi Tunji Ojo’s assumption into office as Minister of Interior of the federation.
“This is an accomplishment, no doubt a great feat that is highly commendable and applaudable.
The union added, “To this effect, it is with great pleasure the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) NHQ extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Minister of Interior for his exemplary service delivery and unquantifiable efforts in addressing the long-standing bottlenecks in passport issuance.”
