As Starfield College, Lagos marked the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the college, the management of the school lauded the roles played by staff, parents, friends of the school and divine helpers.
In his welcome address, Mr Christopher Eigbe, the Director of Studies recalled trying moments the College passed through from infancy to date and thanked God, the Creator, for leading the school from the humble beginning 25 years ago.
He disclosed that “The journey has not always been a straight-line journey; there have been moments of stress and anxiety, doubt, frustration. The spirit of God has always been guiding us at such moments of challenges”.
“I have come to you today to give Glory and Thanks to God for leading us from our humble beginning 25 years ago till today when we are celebrating the Silver Jubilee of our great school.
“Let me thank God for our lives, the lives of Directors, our staff past and present, our students past and present, our parents past and present.”
Mr. Eigbe added, “His hand of blessings fell on the school right from inception, when there is need to get funds to build the school, God has provided divine helper for us, when we have to get registration from both State and WAEC; our detractors did their best to frustrate us but God created favour for us and ensured that our project did not die. That project we are here today to celebrate.”
Mrs. Juliana Eigbe, the Administrative Head, was full of praises to almighty God for His love in the sustenance of the College for 25 years and lauded the cooperation of staff, parents and other critical stakeholders of the school.
In the same vein, Mrs Sara Oyinloye acknowledged the roles played by staff and parents in sustaining the standards on which the College was laid as it continued to wax stronger to date.
Speaking on the exemplary lifestyle of old students of the College as the hallmark of quality foundational education, Mrs. Oyinloye said many old students of the College are doing great in Universities and other levels of tertiary education across Nigeria and other part of the world while current students are excelling in local and international engagements.
Parents that graced the occasion in large numbers also acknowledged the quality of learning at the College as exemplified by the performances and status of their children in different fields of endeavours.
Mrs. Itoro Effiong Bright, in her testimony, lauded the management of the College for the quality of learning and moral upbringing her children have imbibed as students at the school.
In the same vein, Mrs. Olusola Titcombe, a parent whose children were old and current students at the College, expressed appreciation to God for the good deeds He has done in the lives of her children nurtured by the College.
Titcombe said three of her children who graduated from the College some years ago have become Chartered Accountant, a Surveyor and Mechanical Engineers, saying they are doing great in their respective fields of professional practice.
